Positive test for Speedheat
Leading vinyl floor specialist Amtico has passed a vote of confidence in electrical underfloor heating from Speedheat. After putting Speedheat to a non-stop test over 18 months, Amtico is now recommending the system as safe and compatible with its luxury vinyl flooring.
"Our products require a surface temperature that never exceeds the industry standard of 27 deg C"; explained John King, head of technical services at Amtico. “We need to work with a heating system where every square metre can be controlled".
Technical project manager Chas Harwood set up the test under Amtico flooring in a conservatory. As well as looking to see if the heat produced was adequate for the area, he was also checking for potential problems of overheating and discolouration in the vinyl.
"Vinyl tiles are very sensitive to discolouration if they overheat, causing a localised striped effect from the heating elements underneath"; explained Chas.
"When homeowners have invested in high quality flooring, they rightly expect the product to look good for years. After 18 months, the conservatory test proved a total success".
Now the two companies are working in partnership through Amtico’s UK outlets.
